#HousefulOfCookies 2018

I miss baking, which I used to do much more frequently. (Yes, for anyone who pays extreme attention to detail, this is exactly how I started off last year’s #HousefulOfCookies post too!)

Thanks to Natasha and #HousefulOfCookies, I’m back in the baking business, at least for one batch of Nutella Brownie Cookies.

I’m sharing a recipe from PointsKitchen*, and hope you’ll join ALL the bloggers in the hop. You’ll be well-prepared for any cookie exchanges you have on tap in December AND for any visitors who hail from the North Pole!

The recipe says it each cookie is 3 Weight Watchers points. Guess I need to add another fraction for the quality control process!

And the recipe:

Nutella Brownie Cookies (by PointsKitchen)

¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
¼ cup white sugar
1 egg
¼ cup nutella
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
⅔ cup white flour
1.5 Tbsp mini chocolate chips
2 Tbsp cookie butter (or nutella) for topping

Preheat oven to 325F, spray a large cookie sheet with non stick spray.
With an electric mixer beat together the applesauce, vanilla and sugar for 2 minutes, add the egg and continue beating, then add the Nutella while still beating.
Using a spoon mix in dry ingredients and chocolate chips. Spoon cookies onto cookie sheet and in the middle of each cookie add ¼ tsp of cookie butter, you can use Nutella for the middle if you don’t have any cookie butter (I used Nutella – pk).

Bake for 8-10 minutes, makes 20 cookies at 3 smart points each..

bRUNch To Make a Point: Price’s Point

 “Didn’t know a stranger.”

“Lit up a room.”

“Put a smile on everyone’s face.”

I didn’t personally know Price Thornal, but I know he was loved by many here in Tallahassee, and quite a few of the young people I am acquainted with knew him. The above phrases were taken from this remembrance, and I have a feeling they sum up what most everyone who knew him felt.

Madison Social is holding a Brunch Fun Run to benefit Price’s Point on May 10. Price’s Point is part of a project through the Organization for Artificial Reefs to build an artificial reef in Price’s memory.

Brunch + Fun + Run + A Great Cause = Let’s Do This!

madison fun run

The goal will be to run around College Town, eating something off of the Madison Social brunch menu each lap (okay, FORCE ME! TWIST MY ARM!). Here are the three between-lap food offerings:

Nutella Pizza

Nutella Pizza

Brunch Sticks

Brunch Sticks

Breakfast Quesadillas

(The fourth and final lap is, according to the Madison Social people, “No food, just all speed baby!)

The distance for the participants who do all the laps is approximately 1.75 miles.

Price Thornal clearly made an impact on those who knew and loved him. Let’s come together to run, eat, make some memories, and be part of an artificial reef through which he will continue making an impact that will outlive all of us.
